Tangel Creek Falls

“Tangle Creek Falls”

Located 7 kms north of the Columbia Icefield Centre in Jasper Nat. Park, between Jasper and Banff, Tangle Creek Falls is one of the most popular falls in the Icefield Parkway.  The waterfall drops 114’ and has a series of cascading tiers of 14’, 18’ and 13’ made up from several overlapping streams that all join to create a single powerful plunge.  These beautiful falls are so powerful that the spray from its multitiered cascade nearly reaches the highway!  Rumors have it that the name was derived by explorers that came over the nearby Wilcox Pass, plowing through dense and “tangled” brush.  Looking at these amazing and dramatic falls, they too give the appearance of being tangled and intertwined amongst each other at the top of the waterfall, creating a beautiful sight to behold!
