Curls

“Curls”

These Rocky Mountain Big Horn Sheep are often seen along the cliffs of the highway as you travel The Icefields Parkway in Alberta.  It’s always a treat to see the big male rams and their huge set of horns that have a very defined curl to them.  It is the dark lines within these curls that defines their age and can weight up to 14 kg (30 lbs) These impressive growths are a symbol of status and a powerful weapon used in the clashing head battles that occur during the rut.
