Windows to the Soul

“Window to the Soul”

While on our way home from town one day we saw a large great grey owl fly across the road right in front of us and land on a fencepost. When I stopped and got out my camera, much to my surprise, this amazing owl flew directly at me, and landed on a surveyor’s stake that was in the middle of the ditch between me and the fence line. It seemed as though he too was curious and wanted to check me out. At this distance he was much too close for a full body image, but when I looked into my camera, what I saw was truly a window to his soul.        Its large yellow distinctive eyes were so mesmerizing, as he held me captive in his sight. Slowly I backed away and even as we drove off, I could see he remained there still on the stake, leaving me with yet another amazing moment in nature.
