“On Alert”

When we travel through the foothills of Alberta, we often come across the defining white-tailed deer. They are much more skittish than their counterparts, the mule deer, so you have to be quick and ready if you want to catch an image of these beautiful creatures, as they are always on the alert. If you watch closely, they will quickly raise their tail vertically and puff it up just before turning and bounding off into the distance with their white flag of a tail alerting others in its herd of danger.
