Hide n' Seek
One evening, we set out in search of a pair of red fox kits a neighbor had told us about on her property. After quietly scanning the area, we finally spotted them—tiny bursts of energy playing in a field near the edge of the trees.
In an instant, everything changed.
The mother fox appeared, and with a flash of movement, she and most of her kits disappeared into the safety of the trees. Only two remained behind. From the shadows, she let out a sharp “yip,” a clear call to stay hidden. The two little kits froze immediately, their eyes fixed on us—the unexpected intruders.
We quietly captured a few quick photos, careful not to linger.
As we turned to leave, the mother called again. Without hesitation, the two kits sprang to life and raced back to her side, disappearing into the trees.
In that moment, we knew we had made the right choice to step away—leaving them safe, together, and undisturbed.
