Three Sisters
Rising high above the mountain town of Canmore, the iconic Three Sisters stand as one of the most recognizable and beloved landmarks in the Canadian Rockies.
These majestic peaks can be seen from nearly anywhere in the valley—drawing the eye and anchoring the landscape with their timeless presence.
Their story reaches back to the late 1800s.
In 1883, they were first named the “Three Nuns” by Albert Rogers, after a heavy snowstorm blanketed their northern faces in white, giving them a striking, uniform appearance.
Just a few years later, in 1886, George Mercer Dawson renamed them the “Three Sisters”—a name that has endured ever since.
Today, each peak carries its own identity.
The Big Sister—Faith.
The Middle Sister—Charity.
And the Little Sister—Hope.
Together, they form more than just a mountain range. They represent something enduring.
Something symbolic.
No matter the season—whether touched by the golden hues of autumn, framed by fresh winter snow, or glowing under summer light—these peaks have a way of capturing your attention.
And holding it.
They are a reminder of the quiet strength and beauty found in nature’s most enduring creations
