Whispering Pines

“Whispering Pines”

While out driving around one late afternoon I found this very tentative great grey owl perched about 20’ up high in the pine trees. Sitting amongst the environmentally sensitive old man’s beard lichens, he blends in with his environment so well.  As the largest of the owl family, this large stealth like bird, has a wingspan of up to 5’ (150cm)! It never ceases to amaze me at how it can fly and glide silently through a dense forest, leaving nothing but the sounds of the wind blowing softly through the whispering pines
