In The Shadows

“In the Shadows”

One evening we were out looking for some red fox kits that a neighbor had told us were on her property.  Upon scouring the area, we spotted them playing in a field near some trees.  Instantly the mother fox, and all but 2 of her kits, quickly darted into the trees.  The mother “yipped” at these remaining 2 kits to stay in the safety of the shadows.  Instantly they froze and starred at us the intruders.  So, we quickly grabbed a few photos and turned to leave.  Upon doing so, Mom then let out a couple more “yips” and the 2 little fox kits quickly darted to her safety.  We knew then we had made the right decision to leave.                                                                      - Stan Masters
