“Back at You”

Photographed in Kananaskis Country, AB, these distinguished bull moose can weigh up to 1500 lbs/680 kg, and yet are able to gracefully disappear into thick bushes and trees with the greatest of ease. This big guy refused to turn around and face me so after an hour of waiting he gave me a beautiful shot of his huge set of antlers, more commonly referred to as paddles. The males shed these amazing paddles every year, which can weigh up to 40 lbs/18 kg and have a spread of 6ft/1.8m wide! From looking at his hind quarters you can see the huge muscles these amazing animals have, all from a diet of twigs.
