Movin' ON
One late spring evening, while driving through the breathtaking Canadian Rockies, we came across a beautiful and powerful sight—a large black bear moving steadily along the roadside.
The hills were alive with color.
Bright yellow dandelions were in full bloom, and while many see them as simple flowers, for bears and other wildlife, they are an important seasonal food source—rich in nutrients after a long winter.
This bear knew exactly where to be.
From the safety of our vehicle, we watched quietly as it moved with purpose, covering ground quickly while stopping to feed along the way. There was a rhythm to its movement, focused, efficient, and completely in tune with its surroundings.
Moments like this remind us how connected wildlife is to the changing seasons.
Not wanting to interrupt its feeding or alter its natural path, we chose to move on, grateful for the brief glimpse into its world. Encounters like these are a privilege… one that comes with the responsibility to respect and protect the wild spaces they call home.
