On the Prowl
One peaceful evening, while out for a drive through the breathtaking Canadian Rockies, we came across a moment that instantly reminded us just how wild and powerful nature truly is.
A massive grizzly bear appeared along the roadside.
We stayed safely inside our vehicle, watching from a respectful distance as this incredible animal moved with purpose through the grassy terrain. It paused often—digging into old logs in search of ants, then turning over large rocks with surprising ease to uncover grubs and roots hidden beneath. Every movement spoke of strength.
The prominent hump on a grizzly’s back isn’t just for appearance—it’s a powerful muscle mass that fuels their front legs, giving them the ability to dig with force and run with incredible speed when needed. Watching this bear in action, it was easy to understand just how essential that strength is for survival in the wild.
This was a bear on a mission. Focused. Intent. Searching for its next meal.
We quietly continued on our way, careful not to disturb its natural rhythm. As we drove off, we carried with us a deep sense of gratitude—for the chance to witness such a majestic symbol of the wilderness in its element.
Encounters like this remind us that the Rockies are not just beautiful landscapes… they are home.
